Clove Bud Essential Oil is derived from an evergreen that grows up to 12 meters in height . At the start of the rainy season, long buds appear that change color over time and are beaten from the trees and dried - these are the cloves sold that are sold commercially. Cloves were among the most precious of spices of Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries, and were worth more than their weight in gold. They continue to be used in traditional Chinese medicine, western herbalism, and in dentistry.
Studies have shown that the eugenol in clove oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Eugenol can protect the liver against disease, reverse inflammation and cellular oxidation (which causes aging). Because of it’s strength, clove oil should be mixed with a carrier oil like coconut oil topical applications.
Benefits of clove essential oil include:
- eliminates acne
- kills parasites
- improves blood circulation
- reduces gum disease
- boosts energy
- natural anti-inflammatory
- kills mold and fungus
Cautions: Dilute well before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Simply put - we are not doctors, and are therefore not able to make recommendations for treating specific conditions and this includes route of administration of any oil. Essential oils are concentrated distillates of the essence of the plant - like medicine, some are good in small amounts but can be dangerous in large amounts, particularly for small children, pregnant women or the elderly. It is our position that anyone who intends to take essential oils internally should only do so under supervision of their family doctor.
