Botanical Name: Eucalyptus globulus
Eucalyptus Globulus has an strong, punget herbaceous scent with woody undertones. This oil is extracted an evergreen tree, also known as Blue Gum, that is commonly found in Australia. Eucalyptus leaves are the favourite food of Koalas, and have been used as traditional medicine by the aboriginal peoples of Australia. Eucalyptus species and its hybrids were planted commercially in South Africa in the 1980's for the production of pulp and paper, and various other forest products. It has slowly evolved toward the production of essential oils.
Some of the most common ways Eucalyptus oil is used include:
- Sinus Decongestant, Control Coughing and Asthma Relief (reduce inflammation and clear congestion from airways)
- Joint & Muscle Pain Reliever (warming rub for sore muscles)
- Sore Throat Spray
- Disinfecting Cleanser
- Dental Anti-microbial (mouthwash ingredient)
- Immune Stimulant (this is why it is part of our 4 French Thieves Blend)
- Insect Repellant

ISimply put - we are not doctors, and are therefore not able to make recommendations for treating specific conditions and this includes route of administration of any oil. Essential oils are concentrated distillates of the essence of the plant - like medicine, some are good in small amounts but can be dangerous in large amounts, particularly for small children, pregnant women or the elderly. It is our position that anyone who intends to take essential oils internally should only do so under supervision of their family doctor.
