Botanical Name: Citrus sinensis
Orange Essential Oil has a sweet, citrus smell like the orange peels from which it is derived, but more intense and concentrated.
Sweet Orange is an evergreen tree, smaller and less hard than the bitter orange tree. The fruit is sweet with no bitter membrane. It is believed that sweet orange was brought to Europe by the Arabs in the First century along with the bitter orange.
The most prominent active ingredients in orange oil are limonene (which is about 85–96 percent of the extract) and myrcene (0.5–3 percent). Limonene is especially considered a powerful antioxidant that fights free radical damage and inflammation that can lead to various diseases.
According to research, the benefits of orange oil may include:
- Fighting cancerous tumors
- Increasing circulation
- Killing bacteria and pathogens
- Decreasing wrinkles
- Improving complexion
- Easing anxiety
- Decreasing hypertension

Simply put - we are not doctors, and are therefore not able to make recommendations for treating specific conditions and this includes route of administration of any oil. Essential oils are concentrated distillates of the essence of the plant - like medicine, some are good in small amounts but can be dangerous in large amounts, particularly for small children, pregnant women or the elderly. It is our position that anyone who intends to take essential oils internally should only do so under supervision of their family doctor.
